To the first folks on (community) dancefloor, thank you!

December 10, 2013 By Hillary Boucher

By Hillary Boucher, Community Manager at The Community Roundtable

Sure it was easy to assign the Thank It Forward challenge, but so much harder to put pick my own three! Twitter has been a great way to say thank you to many and here are a few more #thankitforward shout-outs.

Thank you to…

1. The first community members on the dancefloor. As community practitioners we all rely on those community members who are willing to be the first to share, give feedback and generally engage with content and programs. Cheers and gratitude to the first on the dancefloor! I want to specifically give a community manager high-five to Caty Kobe & Jillian Bejtlich who helped me kick-off this project inside TheCR Network by sharing their own #thankitforward lists. This was not the first time they have showed up to get a conversation started. Thank you!

2. My team at TheCR. Not only do I earnestly like the people I work with, I also aspire to be more like them. There’s so much to learn! I do not take the opportunity to work alongside them lightly — it’s an honor. I want to give a special shout out to Maggie Tunning. Maggie joined TheCR team about a year ago as our research fellow and I’ve been grateful to have her as a resource and teammate. She’s extremely detail-oriented and a great question asker. I find myself thinking, “How would Maggie approach this project?” Beyond the value and inspiration she brings to my work she is also a great friend. I enjoy working alongside her during our day-to-day adventures in community. Funny detail — after working together for a year we’re just meeting in person for the first time this week!

3. Our expert facilitators. What would TheCR Network be without the fine folks who share their knowledge with us by guest facilitating Roundtable calls? I want to give a special shout out to Maddie Grant who never hesitates when we ask for help and who facilitated two Roundtable calls in 2013! Also, I want to send gratitude to TheCR members Ted Hopton & Tracy Maurer (UBM) who have been an active part of a number of calls this year and are leading today’s Roundtable call on gamification.

Of course there are so many more! Thank you to everyone who has supported and inspired my community work this year. I really appreciate it.
