By Hillary Boucher, Community Manager at the Community Roundtable
It’s May! The flowers are blooming (finally!) and members are collaborating. Yes, TheCR Network has spring fever. A fellow community manager and member recently said to me: “I can’t believe how much you have going on inside the Network.” And it’s true! In April alone, we hosted six formal member programs addressing topics like measurement, innovation, collaboration and content & programs. Add our weekly happy hour chats, forum discussions, and new conference resources and you can get an idea of the depth of resources made available to members on a monthly basis. Here are a few notable highlights from last month:
- Measurement & Benchmarking to Re-engergize Your Community (Virtual Roundtable): Our fearless co-founder, Rachel Happe, led a session on how benchmarking and data can be used to drive investment decisions that affect the success of your community. On this popular call, Rachel shared the four general principles of benchmarking and stressed that when it comes to benchmarking and goal setting it’s imperative to have a system or plan to achieve your goals.
- Learning & Change (Special Interest Group): With the help of Jeff Merrell & Keeley Sorokti (Northwestern) we launched a new special interest group for members interested in exploring how communities support learning and organizational change. The group will host regular, virtual events and discussions for members. Jeff and Keeley are part of Northwestern’s MS Learning & Organizational Change Program and we’re very excited about the expertise and enthusiasm they bring to the network.
- Launching for Success: How to Seed a New Community for Engagement (Virtual Roundtable): This was one of those calls that makes a community manager’s heart sing: Designed to address an emerging and immediate need of a subset of members we co-designed the agenda with members working on seeding a new community and included a virtual panel of experienced members who could help increase engagement. It reminded me of just how smart, strategic and generous our members are with their time and expertise. Great, great advice was swapped on this call and will be archived for future reference. Go Roundtablers!
