JANUARY 16, 2015

Boston, MA – The Community Roundtable celebrates the critical role of community management in organizations with the release of a new handbook – The Community Manager Handbook: 20 Lessons from Community Superheroes – part of a series of initiatives that begin on Community Manager Appreciation Day (CMAD), on Monday, January 26.

In honor of CMAD, The Community Roundtable and Higher Logic have teamed up to co-sponsor events in Boston, San Francisco, Atlanta, Milwaukee and Washington, DC on January 26, ranging from lunch discussions to evening celebrations. The events will feature the release of the first element of new research from The Community Roundtable, The Community Manager Handbook: 20 Lessons from Community Superheroes, which features research highlights from TheCR alongside case profiles from some of the most successful community professionals working today.

The full release of The Community Manager Handbook will come on February 4 at 2 p.m. ET, in conjunction with a webinar hosed by Higher Logic featuring Rachel Happe, Principal and Co-Founder of The Community Roundtable and a panel of community professionals profiled in the Handbook research.

“We’re excited to bring forward the stories of so many talented managers and community professionals whose work is often highly regarded but underappreciated in organizations,” said Happe. “We see community management as the future direction of all organizational management, putting these superheroes at the forefront of a wave that is fundamentally changing the relationship between companies, employees and customers.”

“At Higher Logic, we have the good fortune of working with talented community managers each day,” said Hunter Montgomery, Chief Marketing Officer at Higher Logic. “We hope this Handbook will provide inspiration for them to bring new strategies to their community efforts.”

Community Manager Appreciation Day will also feature the launch of the survey period for The State of Community Management 2015, the Community Roundtable’s sixth annual look at the growth and change of organizationally sponsored communities. The research will gather and analyze survey responses from hundreds of community professionals to spot trends and highlight changes in the perception and operation of communities in large and small organizations – and provide community management professionals with a tangible way to contribute to the advancement of the discipline.
