Introducing TheCR Focus: Your Guide to The Business of Community

October 26, 2011 By Jim Storer

When Rachel and I started building The Community Roundtable in 2009, we had a decision to make. Who to serve? We agreed it was hard to build a truly customer-focused business if you tried to serve too many constituents. In the end, we agreed to focus on the people we thought really needed help… the early adopters building and optimizing communities for business.  And for them we built TheCR Network.

Our initial approach has served us and our network members well over the last two years, but we recognize that there are a lot of other people interested in and able to benefit from what we’re doing who aren’t ready or able to become members.   Also, the interest in the business of community has increased dramatically over these three years. Whether it’s an executive trying to better understand the opportunities associated with social strategies, a community strategist based in Australia challenged to make our member calls with the 15 hour time difference or a social software product manager trying to make the best community products she can, up until now we had no way of serving their needs.

We’re happy to announce the launch of TheCR Focus, a report subscription that provides subscribers with a monthly digest of key learnings and links from TheCR Network. Each month we deliver a bundle of content around one specific community management competency, including:

  1. Deep Dives… We share the best practices and lessons learned from three member roundtable calls focusing on different aspects of one topic. These 2-5 page reports are the ideal length to understand the topic without being too onerous to read in one sitting.
  2. Food for Thought… This section contains a collection of curated links on the topic, highlighting articles and blog posts we find insightful and can help you with your daily community challenges.
  3. Big Picture… This is an article, research or post that we find particularly profound. It’s intended to draw you out of the echo chamber and get you thinking in new ways.
We hope this offering gives our friends and members another way to become more involved with our community so that we all may advance the business of community.

TheCR Focus is $350/year/person. Team discounts apply for 3- and 5-person subscriptions. Learn more about TheCR Focus or sign up below.
