Meet TheCR Network Scholars | Supranee Jaroenlerdjanya

April 21, 2021 By Jim Storer

As part of our continuing efforts to increase the impact of our community resources, we are excited to introduce you to the 2021 Scholarship Cohort. Each month in 2021 we’ll interview a cohort scholar and learn why community is important to them.

This month we’ll meet Supranee Jaroenlerdjanya, Head of Corporate Innovation at HUBBA Thailand.

Why do you believe in Community/Community Management?

I’m learning a lot from my career working as a community manager. I would say I’m who I’m now because of support from community and I totally believe in its power.

My goal is to make “Community” become an agenda in my country. This could help people understand more about the value of community that can make a good impact on our future.

What area of Community do you want to learn most about?

Business and Strategy, I’m struggle on how we can make it more sustainable and I think these 2 topics is my weakness that I want to learn more and improve.

Tell us more about your role at HUBBA Thailand!

I’ve been with HUBBA Thailand, one of the well-known local co-working spaces in Bangkok, Thailand since 2012. My current role is designing and managing a team of 10+ to be able to execute an innovation program focused on Thailand’s vibrant startup ecosystem by connecting people through activities, workshops and events.

My current role aside from coaching the community leader is to focusing on the corporate side in how we can partner and help them cultivate innovation culture and transformation by using the concept of community, our knowledge and connection during the past eight years in supporting the entrepreneurs and startups community in Thailand.

Thanks, Supranee! Watch this space for updates from Supranee and our other 2021 Scholarship Cohort members.

Meet TheCR Network Scholars | Erin Fristoe

March 23, 2021 By Jim Storer

As part of our continuing efforts to increase the impact of our community resources, we are excited to introduce you to the 2021 Scholarship Cohort. Each month in 2021 we’ll interview a cohort scholar and learn why community is important to them.

This month we’ll meet Erin Fristoe, currently the Director of Community and Talent Acquisition for a 200-person Department of Defense Contractor.

Why do you believe in Community/Community Management?

Community isn’t something that you choose to believe in or not like Santa Claus. Community is there whether you see it or not.

But not all communities are created equal- those with strong leadership (or influence) succeed. It turns out I was “community managing” long before I knew that it was a thing. I was always the person that coordinated friends gathering, or finding commonalities between strangers to have them more comfortably engage with one another. In fact, I have a LI blog post about My Accidental Community that I wrote a few years back- community managing before I was a Community Manager.

Some people are born to do it- I can’t not community manage. The innate habit of community building that lies within me is a driving factor in my life, work aside.

What area of Community do you want to learn most about?

I’ve given talks as a SME in the Community space and enjoy learning and growing, but I really desire the leadership skills to learn how to strategize for the future. As the Community SME at my company, I don’t have anyone to learn from, for instance, creating a roadmap for the community.

In my dream world, I would take the skills and thought leadership I’ve gained over the years and consult with other small start-ups in the DC area, educating them on the value of building a strong community from the start.

Are you currently working in Community?

Yes, My current role is that of Community Director. In this role, it is my responsibility to make employees sticky. My focus is driven by two fundamentals: lowering attrition and engaging high performers- the most productive members of our community tend to be the most engaged.

Thanks, Mohamed! Watch this space for updates from Mohamed and our other 2021 Scholarship Cohort.

Meet TheCR Network Scholars | Mohamed Mohammed

February 26, 2021 By Jim Storer

As part of our continuing efforts to increase the impact of our community resources, we are excited to introduce you to the 2021 Scholarship Cohort. Each month in 2021 we’ll interview a cohort scholar and learn why community is important to them.

Why do you believe in Community/Community Management?

Community is, as Rob Bernshteyn has expressed, the future of business. It represents the ideal of both the efficient and responsible operation of business.

My favorite example of this is the use of community platforms/ forums to figure out how best to deliver value to the user of a product or service.

Community, when taken seriously (and funded as such), can be what separates a transactional relationship from one that continually adds value to users’ lives.

What area of Community do you want to learn most about?

I am interested in learning about the business side of community management.

Are you currently working in Community?

Yes! I work as a Community Manager in charge of the forum communities for publishing brands such as PC Gamer, Tom’s Guide, and Space.com.

Thanks, Mohamed! Watch this space for updates from Mohamed and our other 2021 Scholarship Cohort.

Meet the 2021 Scholarship Cohort in TheCR Network

January 26, 2021 By Jim Storer

As part of our continuing efforts to increase the impact of our community resources, we are excited to announce the 2021 Scholarship Cohort.

We believe that offering access to individuals that may not otherwise have the financial means to do is beneficial not just for those who receive the scholarship, but all members of TheCR Network. Increasing the diversity of membership to include organizations that are not traditionally well-resourced provides a more holistic and comprehensive experience for everyone.

You’ll hear more from our Scholarship class, as they report back on their learnings in this space over the next year. In the meantime, here’s a snapshot of our 2021 Scholarship Cohort:
