By Shannon Abram, Relationship Manager at The Community Roundtable.
It’s April and after a long, hard winter in the Northeast the surest sign of Spring (in Boston at least!) will arrive next week – MLB Opening Day! We talk a lot about community building in the online realm, but it’s nice to stop and think about the kind of real-life community building that happens everyday through baseball and other games – from our beloved Red Sox, all the way down to the first tee ball games of Spring. There is nothing quite like heading to the ballpark or field, chatting with friends, neighbors and fans and eating Cracker Jacks.
However you get out into your local community and connect this weekend, we hope you have a great time.
The hot topic in TheCR Network this week was definitely metrics and measurement. Rachel met with members to discuss benchmarking, and how data and a management framework can be used to drive investment decisions that support the success of your communities. We also released our latest Roundtable Report – Unlocking the Executive Perspective on Success & Measurement: Business Goals, Community, & Metrics which provides members with a great case study and a framework for measuring community success. Are you focused on measuring community value? What metrics do you use to show that value? We’d love to hear from you!
Things We Are Reading This Week
Our Community Superheroes Share Their Superheroes, Part 2 – Last week, we shared with you a little added information from The Community Manager Handbook: 20 Lessons from Community Superheroes. In the back of the handbook, we list the people that the 20 community professionals we interviewed for the handbook would cite as their superheroes. It’s a diverse group, but what we left out of the Handbook were the reasons why our heroes named theirs!
